Through OpenAg®, UPL is focused on accelerating progress for the food system. Under the multi-phase, multi-year agreement, UPL and CH4 Global will develop a comprehensive roadmap targeting key livestock markets in India, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay, which together represent more than 40% of the world’s cattle population.
Our OpenAg purpose places collaboration at the heart of progress, and through this partnership [sic with Ch4 Global] we aim to mark an important step in showing how agriculture can deliver on overall efforts to reduce greenhouse gasses. . This initiative will present a new model for sustainable livestock which can be scaled globally, helping the industry reach net-zero for greenhouse gasses by adopting methane mitigation technologies, and demonstrating agriculture’s positive impact on the environment.

Lotte International – a subsidiary of Lotte Group, which is the sixth largest company in Korea – is dedicated to producing and sourcing agricultural products and food ingredients within Lotte Group. Initially, Lotte International will use Methane Tamer™ on its Australian feedlot, Sandalwood, for up to seven thousand head of cattle, primarily Wagyu Beef. Through this partnership, Lotte International can reduce methane gas generated at Sandalwood and supply lower carbon beef in the market.
As a company that operates a beef business in Australia, reducing methane gas is a very important ESG issue. Therefore, we are actively working together with CH4 Global to reduce methane gas generated at Sandalwood and supply low-carbon beef in the market. In addition, we are working to introduce CH4 Global products in Korea to support the Korean government's goal of reducing methane gas emissions.

In 2022, we completed the first commercial sale of our Asparagopsis-based product for enteric methane reduction to CirPro, for use across its beef feedlot partners.
This marks an important milestone towards the goal of a carbon-neutral beef industry in Australia by systemically reducing, not just offsetting, emissions. It represents a win for the beef industry, a win for Australia, and a win for the planet.
